European projects in progress
GENESIS
The GENESIS project – Greening Economy Network for Enhancing Sustainable Industrial Systems – officially launched on 1st September 2025. GENESIS is an I3 project dedicated to green manufacturing, bringing together 11 partners from nine countries. It aims to strengthen innovation in the regions represented through green technologies, the circular economy and digital technology. The MecaTech Cluster will lead a Work Package dedicated to Matchmaking & Business Cases, which includes a programme of two major European events: Pollutec 2026 and Hannover Messe 2027, connecting European SMEs, manufacturers and experts around innovation projects for the green and digital transition.
JEWEL
The JEWEL project – Joint nEtWork for European net-zero manufacturing Leadership – was launched on 1st October 2025. JEWEL is a Eurocluster project, coordinated by the MecaTech Cluster, which brings together eight partners from seven countries. It aims to accelerate the deployment of Net Zero Technologies in industry, in line with the European Green Deal and Net Zero Act. In concrete terms, it will provide companies with ‘factories of projects’ bringing together technology SMEs around the challenges faced by major European manufacturers, in order to promote innovative cooperation. It includes nearly €2 million in direct funding, which will be distributed during two open calls. MecaTech members will benefit from unique opportunities to develop applications in the key sectors of Defence, Energy-Intensive Industries and Mobility.
EDIH WalHub
The MecaTech Cluster participated in the creation of the WalHub project, the European Digital Innovation Hub (EDIH). In collaboration with 8 Walloon partners, including AGORIA, the SIRRIS, MULTITEL, CENAERO and CETIC research centres, and the Idelux intermunicipal association, this project financed by the European Commission and Wallonia aims to accelerate the digital transformation of Walloon manufacturing companies.
Over an initial renewable period of 3 years, with a total budget of €3.4m, EDIH WalHub is focusing on the rapid adoption of 4 key technologies: Artificial Intelligence, IoT Technologies, High Performance Computing (HPC) and Cybersecurity.
By offering a range of services, including technology demonstrators, Living Labs, and access to European funding, EDIH WalHub supports the "Digital Wallonia" vision for a dynamic digital transformation of Wallonia's manufacturing companies.
EDIH WallonIA
The WallonIA EDIH project, launched with financial support from Wallonia and the European Union, extends the region's participation in the European Digital Innovation Hubs (EDIH) network for three years, under the leadership of the Digital Agency and as part of the Digital Wallonia strategy.
It creates a one-stop shop based on existing initiatives (eDIH Connect and WalHub) to support manufacturing and construction companies in their digital transformation. The funding allocated exceeds €5.2 million. The main objectives include accelerating the adoption of key technologies (artificial intelligence, data, cybersecurity), improving the digital maturity of businesses, facilitating access to training, financing and demonstrators, and promoting Walloon expertise at European and global level.
The scheme is primarily aimed at SMEs and mid-sized companies in the industrial and construction sectors, with services tailored to their level of digital maturity. The project will start in March 2026, will run for three years, and aims to support 600 companies, with 70% individual support and 30% collective support.
European Cluster Alliance for Green Manufacturing
This Alliance brings together seven European ecosystems – Wallonia (BE), Pays de Loire (FR), Auvergne-Rhône Alpes (FR), Latvia (LT), Podlasie (PL), Emilia-Romagna (IT), Leiria (PT) – around a common ambition: to bring together European industrial clusters in a dynamic collaborative platform to accelerate the green and digital transformation of European industry.

DREAM
DREAM is a Eurocluster project coordinated by the SCS Cluster (France) and bringing together a consortium of 4 other complementary partners: CLUJ IT Cluster (Romania), MecaTech Cluster, MESAP (Turin, Italy), G.A.C. Group (France).
35 collaborative projects promoting the adoption of innovative digital solutions (integrating AI, IOT, Big Data, Cybersecurity, Cloud & connectivity or Smart Robotics/Automation) by the manufacturing industry are currently being implemented thanks to the financial support of DREAM.
In addition, the DREAM consortium provides awareness-raising, training and guidance for industries in their digital and ecological transition.
GEMSTONE
GEMSTONE is a Eurocluster project dedicated to Green Manufacturing.
It is coordinated by the CIMES cluster (France) and brings together Clust-ER MECH (Italy), Metal Processing Cluster (Poland), Green Tech Latvia (Latvia), POOL-Net (Portugal) and the MecaTech Cluster.
The aim is to support manufacturing companies in their green transition, through awareness-raising, coaching/orientation and financing initiatives. 5 key sectors are particularly targeted: aerospace/defence, energy, agribusiness/agriculture, materials and mobility.
GEMSTONE directly finances SMEs (tech providers and/or end-users) in a variety of ways: financing innovation projects, demonstrators or PoCs (GreenInnov & GreenAdopt), training (GreenTrain) and internationalisation (GreenExplore). These last two calls remain open until December 2024.
