Our role

MecaTech is mobilising its ecosystem to accelerate the development of practical solutions that contribute to Net Zero targets. By structuring value chains, fostering collaboration and connecting stakeholders with European opportunities, it plays a key role in the transition to sustainable energy systems.

Supporting strategic energy sectors

MecaTech supports the development of technologies and solutions in key sectors such as nuclear energy, energy storage and photovoltaics. The aim is to position Walloon companies in high-value-added segments and to strengthen their market access.

Structuring value chains and partnerships

The Cluster facilitates the integration of businesses into European ecosystems, particularly in the battery sector, and supports the development of collaborative projects. This approach helps to boost the competitiveness and visibility of Walloon stakeholders.

Accelerating innovation and industrialisation

By supporting the development of innovative solutions and their scaling up, MecaTech helps to transform technological advances into tangible industrial opportunities.

Decarbonising industry with HECO2

Through the HECO2 initiative, the Cluster brings together stakeholders around projects aimed at reducing CO₂ emissions, improving energy efficiency and supporting companies on their decarbonisation journey.

Europe+ Materials / Batteries Programme

The Europe+ Materials/Batteries Programme is the Pôle Mecatech support programme aimed at businesses, research centres and universities seeking access to European funding (Horizon Europe, the BATT4EU and IAM4EU partnerships). It offers its members an active R&I network, monitoring of calls for proposals, the market and European policies, personalised one-to-one coaching and international missions. Building on the success of the Europe+ Batteries Programme 2022–26 (18 members, 5 funded projects), the initiative is now being extended to advanced and innovative materials and connects its members to the European battery and materials ecosystems.
