QUANDYGA ENGINEERING: a Belgian SME at the heart of the digital transformation of MedTech

Thanks to €30,000 in European funding through the DREAM Eurocluster programme, Quandyga Engineering was able to collaborate with a world leader in prosthetics based in Iceland.
This venture enabled the SME based in Louvain-la-Neuve to take a strategic step forward: developing a revolutionary digital simulator of human walking and opening up new international opportunities.

Based in Louvain-la-Neuve, Quandyga Engineering designs complex digital models — or digital twins — to reproduce and understand human movements.
Thanks to €30,000 in funding obtained through its application to the DREAM Eurocluster programme, the SME was able to bring the eWalkMOD (efficient Walker Multibody mODeling) project to fruition in partnership with Össur, an Icelandic company renowned worldwide for its foot and knee prostheses.

The objective: to create a digital human walking simulator capable of automatically managing morphological variations between individuals — height, weight, posture — and assessing walking quality, with or without prostheses.
This model, based on multibody dynamics, allows engineers to virtually test the performance of a prosthesis even before it is manufactured. The result: fewer prototypes, less material, less energy.
In just six months, thanks to the support of MecaTech and its partners through the DREAM project, Quandyga's tool has reached a TRL6 level of technological maturity, confirming its industrial potential.
For Össur, this translates into a 40% reduction in physical testing, significant time and cost savings, and a notable reduction in its environmental footprint.

For Quandyga, this collaboration marked a turning point: the company has grown from a digital engineering start-up to a trusted partner for major international players in the medical device industry.
With the support of Pôle MecaTech and AWEX, the company hopes to open the door to new uses and partners — orthopaedics, rehabilitation, defence, industrial ergonomics — and continue its development, with concrete applications in production and certification.
An SME moving towards the future
The eWalkMOD project embodies the spirit of Industry 5.0: an alliance between technology, sustainability and the human dimension.
By combining advanced modelling, automation and a detailed understanding of movement, Quandyga Engineering demonstrates that a Walloon SME can make a difference on a global scale.
