DREAM is a Eurocluster project whose goal is to accelerate the adoption of digital technologies and processes in order to make manufacturing companies greener, more competitive and more resilient.
The DREAM consortium is composed of Pôle SCS (Provence Alpes Côte d'Azur, France - project coordinator), CLUJ IT Cluster (Romania), Pôle MecaTech (Wallonia, Belgium), MESAP (Turin, Italy), and G.A.C. Group (France).
The DREAM Eurocluster project began in September 2022 and, in addition to funding collaborative innovation projects, will offer support through activities promoting the digitalisation of the manufacturing industry until the end of 2024.
€30,000 to develop international collaborative innovation projects between digital SMEs and manufacturing companies
On 25 March 2022, DREAM Eurocluster launched a call for projects to directly finance (in the form of ‘cascade funding’) collaborative innovation projects worth up to €30,000, bringing together at least one digital technology solution provider and one industry, each based in two different European regions. Each project had to provide arguments in favour of digital innovation and the environmental impact of the solution to be implemented. Additional weight was given to international initiatives.
Cascade funding is a specific European funding mechanism that enables a cluster association to launch mini calls for projects from which businesses are the direct beneficiaries. It is a flexible, fast and simplified administrative procedure that is highly appreciated by SMEs. Around thirty Euroclusters projects are currently active, thanks to the support of the European Commission.
Nearly a third of the funding available to support projects involving members of the MecaTech Cluster ecosystem
€1,050,000 was available for the DREAM Eurocluster call for projects, following which 35 European projects were selected by an international jury of experts in industry and digital technology.
In the end, 12 companies from the Pôle MecaTech ecosystem will receive nearly a third of the available funding: 11 Walloon companies and one member based in Normandy will start their projects in September. While half of them have ‘naturally’ planned to collaborate with a French partner, the other half have proposed collaborations with less traditional markets, such as Slovenia, Bulgaria, Lithuania, Iceland, Denmark and Germany. In all cases, these companies have clearly understood the value of this funding in breaking into new markets and convincing new prospects or major accounts to innovate and test new technologies, thanks to an innovative partnership approach.
