Advanced Tiny Auxiliary Converter with Compact and Optimised Natural Cooling for Efficient Power management in Trains.
The conversion of the electrical energy available on an overhead contact line to electricity that can be used on board a train is necessary:
- to drive the train and
- to power its various auxiliary systems: heating, air-conditioning, and lighting.
The aim of the Atac-Concept project is:
- to develop new auxiliary power converter systems that are better integrated in their environments. That means:
- better energy efficiency;
- drastic reductions in size and weight for better integration in the car’s body; and
- quieter running.
