MecaTech Cluster: our mission 

The MecaTech Cluster aims to increase the partnership between the realms of industry, research and training in order to improve the competitiveness of Wallonia through innovating projects.

In practice, we facilitate the creation of new synergies to improve the capacities of the companies, to increase the investments in the industrial projects, and to support the development of highly qualified personnel.

All this is accomplished through:

1) The access to maximized financial supports for the projects of R & D in which at least two companies and two research
units participate as also for investment and training projects;

2) The creation of a corporate network, research units and training centers which forms a core of high added value competences;

3) A role of training force for the sector. The MecaTech Pole is the technological point of the Walloon Mechanical Engineering.

Mechanical Engineering today, High-tech sector

The sector of mechanical engineering has evolved much these last decades.

Parallel to traditional materials (like steel), new matters (polymeric, ceramic,…) are used today.

The components are evolving towards extremely sophisticated and high-tech products by virtue of new processes, surface coatings, nanotechnologies,… The manufacturing processes are completely reconsidered (e.g. thixoforming),…

They are innovations of rupture. Consequence? No company is in a position to control the growing know-how and different technologies, innovation can be born only from a work in network…
